A Thai woman is appealing for help after her breasts have grown uncontrollably due to a mystery condition that has left her in pain.<br /><br />Lamphrai Srinuan, 46, first noticed her breasts swelling three years ago but thought nothing more of it. <br /><br />Then at the end of last year, Lamphrai's breasts suddenly grew uncontrollably causing her to suffer chronic shoulder, back, and chest pain.<br /><br />Her husband, Bunleang, 51, took his wife in April to the Buddhachinaraj hospital in Phitsanulok, central Thailand, where the doctors were also unable to diagnose or treat her. <br /><br />An examination and a scan also revealed no sign of tumours.<br /><br />Speaking last Friday (June 14) Lamphrai, who has no children, said: ''It’s very difficult for me to even sit or lay down to sleep at night. The breasts are getting heavier and that really hurts my neck and my back.<br /><br />''I don’t wear clothes because every shirt I have doesn’t fit me now. I only have one large shirt that I wear when I go to the hospital.''<br /><br />Lamphrai, who has had to stop work harvesting rice, is currently suffering from a joint infection, which worsens her condition as she is unable to walk without crutches.<br /><br />She is also forced to wear a heavy cloth tied behind her neck to support her gigantic bosom.<br /><br />The woman is worried because her breasts are still growing every day and their weight puts constant pressure on her spine and pain in her nipples.<br /><br />She appealed for help with medical costs last week and hopes that somebody will be able to cure the condition.<br /><br />Lamphrai has not been diagnosed but the illness appears to be similar to breast hypertrophy.<br /><br />Breast hypertrophy - of which one form is gigantomastia - is a medical condition that can cause breasts to grow uncontrollably. <br /><br />Gigantomastia is rare but there are no estimates for the number of women who have it, according to the US Department of Health.<br /><br />The condition can cause stretching of the skin leading to sores appearing. Breast hypertrophy can affect both breasts or in some cases just one.
