Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez shared the latest news at a press conference on Wednesday. Police are still searching for Victor Hugo Gomez, <br />who ordered the hit on Fernandez. Fernandez shared a table with Ortiz <br />at a bar in Santo Domingo on June 9. The former Boston Red Sox star <br />was shot once in the lower back. The gunman, Rolfi Ferreira Cruz, confused <br />Ortiz for Fernandez, according to Rodriguez. Ortiz had surgery at a hospital in <br />the Dominican Republic and was <br />transported to a Boston hospital last week. Ortiz's condition was upgraded to <br />"good" by his doctors on Tuesday.
