Recreational Use of Marijuana <br />Legalized in Illinois It is the 11th state to pass <br />legislation of this kind and <br />the second-most populated. Before cannabis sales launch in January, <br />state lawmakers are expected to <br />come up with a tax system. According to the Illinois bill, 30 grams is the limit for state residents to buy and carry. For out-of-towners, <br />the max amount is 15 grams. In addition to legalizing sales, the bill also <br />eradicates criminal records related to marijuana. According to 'USA Today,' nearly 800,000 cases revolving around minor pot charges will be expunged. 'USA Today' adds that the <br />abolishing of these small crimes will be financed by new taxes <br />on cannabis. The bill also states that money generated from <br />taxes will go towards <br />drug treatment programs, drug enforcement and <br />mental health treatment. Illinois Gov. J.B.
