Dozens of Portuguese man o' war have been spotted on a beach on the Sao Miguel Island in the Azores last Friday (June 28).

The famous surfing beach had some dangerous guests after scores of the gelatinous creatures with their bright colours washed up on the sand.

Their bright colours can be enticing but can deliver a nasty, venomous sting for human beings.

The filmer explained their encounter saying: "When we saw them in the water for the first time - luckily - there were local people who began to scream: 'Do not touch them! Do not swim nearby!'

"I haven’t [got] any idea what is it and that we can even die."
