Students were stranded inside classrooms after flash floods hit the Philippines on July 1. <br /><br />Downpours started just after 9am causing a torrent of rainwater that swamped streets in the Olongapo City area north west of the capital Manila.<br /><br />Parent Arra Aquino, who lives in front of the school, said that the water continued rising throughout the morning.<br /><br />She said: "There were no tricycles or jeepneys available because the flood was already high, and the current was so strong. The children couldn't go outside and all the lessons were suspended.<br /><br />Students reached their homes after a few more hours of waiting for the flood to recede.
