日정부 "화해치유재단 해산, 수용 못한다" 입장 거듭 밝혀

Japan is saying it "absolutely cannot accept" the South Korean government's decision last year to dissolve a foundation set up to help the victims of Japan's sexual slavery.
That's the Reconciliation and Healing Foundation.
Japan's deputy chief cabinet secretary Yasutoshi Nishimura said Friday that its dissolution is a serious problem.
The foundation was set up under a 2015 deal in which Seoul and Tokyo agreed to resolve the issue of Japan's sexual enslavement of Korean women once and for all... and support the now elderly victims financially.
It was criticized, however, because it was not set up with the victims' consent.
Nishimura said Japan's view was conveyed strongly to the South Korean embassy this morning, and that it urged Seoul to abide by the agreement.
To this, Seoul's foreign ministry said it's looking for an appropriate solution that reflects the needs of the victims and related organizations,... and will discuss the matter with Japan as it does so.
