The number of dengue cases could see a downward trend after the Health Ministry kicked off a programme to release Aedes mosquitoes injected with Wolbachia bacteria in an effort to stamp out the disease.<br /><br />After launching the programme at Apartment Sri Rakyat in Bukit Jalil on Sunday, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said a pilot project in 2017 carried out in eight areas in Selangor that showed reductions of between 50% and 80% of dengue cases in each location.<br /><br />Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2019/07/07/health-ministry-recruits-wolbachia-infected-mosquitoes/
