Secretary of State <br />Pompeo Unveils <br />'Unalienable Rights' Panel Secretary of State <br />Mike Pompeo unveiled the <br />new Commission on Monday. Pompeo said the panel will <br />provide him "an informed <br />review of the role of human <br />rights in American foreign policy.” Mike Pompeo, Sec. of State, via Politico The panel will consist of <br />10 members of varying <br />religious backgrounds, led by <br />Harvard law professor, Mary Ann Glendon. Glendon is a social conservative <br />and outspoken anti-abortionist. At the State Department, Glendon said <br />"basic human rights are misunderstood <br />by many, manipulated by many, and ignored <br />by the world’s worst human rights violators." Amnesty International criticized <br />the panel, saying "it wants to <br />undermine rights for individuals, as <br />well as the responsibilities of governments."
