Starting next year, France will charge an "eco tax" for all flights flying out of French airports.<br />In its efforts to protect the environment, the French government said the revenue will be used to finance daily transport in France.<br />The amount of tax due will depend on where the plane is heading and the type of ticket bought, costing anywhere from one to 20 U.S. dollars.<br />France also hopes to push for an end to global tax exemptions on jet fuel to reduce CO2 emissions.<br />Other countries that already have "eco" taxes on flights are the UK and Germany.<br />Places like Ireland, the Netherlands and Belgium failed in their attempts due to political opposition.<br />
