Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has confirmed that the government will repeal the Sedition Act 1948 before replacing it with a new law.<br /><br />“We will first repeal the act," he said when asked today about Pakatan Harapan’s intentions for the colonial-era law.<br /><br />“And for the new act, we are in the process of fine-tuning some sentences.”<br /><br />Mahathir stopped short of offering a time frame for the move, only saying that it would be done “as soon as possible.”
