According to Reuters, James Fields was sentenced to life in prison by a federal judge for killing a resident of Charlottesville during a white nationalist rally in 2017.<br />The 22-year-old drove his car into a crowd of counterprotesters, killing Heather Heyer, and injuring 19 other people.<br />Heyer was a native of Charlottesville, Virginia.<br />Fields rammed the group after turning his car down a street during the Unite the Right Rally on Aug. 12, 2017.<br />Attorneys representing Fields asked the judge of a lesser sentence. <br />
