A clogged river in the Philippines full of garbage is finally getting cleaned up as the local community gear up for the typhoon season. <br /><br />The cleanup drive was organized by the local government with the help of local residents in Manila on June 28. <br /><br />Resident Aristotle Ilumba said: "We try to clean the river from time to time, but when the rain comes, the garbage from different places get pushed here where there is narrow passage." <br /><br />Metro Manila has one of the country's worst garbage problem producing over 9.2 million kilos of waste per day most of which end up in bodies of water.
