Delhi to fight pollution with 11,000 electric buses:<br />Global Tender for EBus issued on 10 March 2019: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/govt-floats-tenders-for-375-e-buses-under-two-clusters/articleshow/68349396.cms<br /><br />Highlights of Pilot project:<br />• 3 electric buses from 3 different manufacturers have started their testing on Delhi roads<br />a) PMI-Photon Company - 13 Nov 2018 - Route 522: Ambedkar Nagar, Indrapuri (Krishi Kunj). <br />b) JBM Solaris - 27 Nov 2018 – Route: Teevra Mudrika Sewa (TMS)<br />c) Olectra Greentech-BYD - 27 Dec 2018 - Route 534: Between Anand Vihar ISBT & Mehrauli<br /><br />#electricbus, #electricvehicles, #renewableenergy, #ebus,<br /><br />• On 11 July 2018, the Delhi government approved, in principal, running 1,000 low-floor AC electric buses in the city which would cost Rs 2,870 crore<br /><br />• AC CNG low-floor buses that are currently running on Delhi roads cost around Rs 85 lakh each, while an AC electric bus costs Rs 2.5 crore,” the 2016 report said.<br /><br />• Each bus cost approx 2.87 crores. Will get reduced when made in India.<br /><br />• Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS), which currently operates cluster buses in the city, as the consultant for the project.<br /><br />• 1,000 Electric Bus and 2,000 CNG buses will be introduced in 2019<br /><br />• Another 11,000 buses required by Delhi and all of this will be electric.<br /><br />• The transport department will construct six special bus depots for these buses — <br />a) East Vinod Nagar, <br />b) Bawana Sector-5, <br />c) Burari, <br />d) Rohini Sector-37, <br />e) Revla Khanpur and Narela.<br /><br />• Launch date July 2019 <br /><br />• Noiseless bus.<br />• Range 250 to 280kms.<br />• Full charge in 4 hrs.<br />• Regenerative brakes.<br />• CCTV in the bus.<br />• Bus can raise, lower and tilt itself hydraulically. <br />• Differently-abled friendly bus.<br />• Safety features: Fire extinguishers, glass breaking hammers, first aid kits, public address system<br /><br />• Future buses will be made in India thus lowering cost. MoU for this signed.<br /><br />• All future buses will be electric buses.<br />Cost reduction features:<br /><br />• Once the bus is made in India and getting subsidies the cost of bus will be equal to similar premium petrol/diesel bus.<br /><br />• Smaller batteries could be used on smaller routes to reduce cost.<br /><br />• Non-AC buses could be used where non-ac buses ply.<br /> <br />Specification of the e-Bus.<br />1. Range of the bus is 250 to 280kms (whereas most Delhi petrol buses travel just 200kms/day)<br />3. Batteries are under the seating area thus freeing up more space for people & luggage.<br />4. Unlike CNG & Diesel bus Electric-Bus requires ZERO maintenance.<br />5. Unlike CNG & Diesel bus Electric-Bus is noiseless and suitable for very comfortable long-distance travel and can promote tourism to a very large extent.<br /><br />The government is planning to have multilevel depots with charging points similar to the bus depot in Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, where a delegation from the transport department, including minister Kailash Gahlot, and DIMTS had gone on a five-day tour.
