First Trailer Released for <br />Tom Cruise's 'Top Gun: Maverick' The film is sequel to the 1986 <br />smash-hit film that launched the actor's <br />career in Hollywood. In the trailer, Cruises' Pete "Maverick" Mitchell is still <br />a gung-ho pilot, who doesn't seem interested in <br />advancing his Air Force career. He is depicted as still being a Captain in the service despite his lengthy career. In 'Maverick,' Cruise is joined by newcomers Ed Harris and Jon Hamm. As well as 'Whiplash' star Miles Teller, who plays <br />the son of Anthony Edwards' Goose <br />from the first movie. 'Maverick' was helmed by <br />Joseph Kosinski, who directed <br />Cruise in the sci-fi flick 'Oblivion.' 'Top Gun: Maverick' will fly onto the big screen next summer on June 26.
