A woman in India was filmed throwing a newborn baby girl into a drain in Kaithal city on Thursday 18 July.<br /><br />Street dogs found the child and alerted people to the child's presence with their barking.<br /><br />The baby was then saved and taken to the District Civil Hospital in Kaithal, where doctors said she was lucky to be alive.<br /><br />It is thought to be a case of attempted female infanticide -- still a problem in parts of India, where a female child may be considered an economic burden
