Japan is holding an election today for the upper house of its legislature, the House of Councillors.<br />Half of the body's 248 seats are up for grabs,... as they are every three years.<br />Prime Minister Shinzo Abe wants his party and its allies to win a two-thirds majority so they can amend the consitution's provisions on the military.<br />A good result for Abe will likely encourage the administration to step up its policies against South Korea, like its recent export curbs.<br />The exit poll will be announced shortly after the ballots close at 8 p.m. <br />
