Protesters in Hong Kong have been constructing barriers in the Causeway Bay shopping district.<br /><br />Protesters passed bags of cable ties to activists who used them to tie metal barriers together. Many of the young activists were wearing face masks and hard hats.<br /><br />The theme of the protest is opposition to what protesters claim is police brutality against demonstrators at previous demonstrations.<br /><br />The gathering at Causeway Bay has so far been peaceful. Another gathering close to the China Liaison Office -- a symbol of Beijing's rule over Hong Kong -- has seen a tense standoff with riot police.<br /><br />Both gatherings are unauthorised.
