U.S., Chinese negotiators could agree on modest terms toward trade deal: WSJ

Ahead of a meeting this week between the top trade negotiators of the U.S. and China,... there's speculation the two sides could make modest progress toward a deal.<br />The Wall Street Journal on Sunday cited sources "close to the talks," who expressed optimism they could edge closer to a deal with smaller, more obtainable conditions rather than a sweeping one.<br />That would include a commitment from Beijing to buy large amounts of U.S. soybeans,... and action from Washington to relax its ban on U.S. companies doing business with Huawei.<br />U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are due in Shanghai on Tuesday.<br />They will hold talks with Beijing's top negotiator, Vice Premier Liu He.<br />Progress made during the meeting could set the stage for the negotiators to tackle bigger issues during follow-up talks in Washington.<br />
