There are conflicting opinions over how Las Vegas came to be unusually invaded by grasshoppers.<br />Entomologists point to the columns of light that hotels shoot into the night sky.<br />Grasshoppers are known to be drawn to green spaces and ultraviolet light which basically cover the entire city.<br />Another expert says the migration can be attributed to wet weather several months ago.<br />More than 100 millimeters of rain fell in Las Vegas this year,... leading to high humidity and supposedly prompted them to hop over.<br />The expert stressed the grasshoppers are harmless and are unlikely to damage any property before they disappear in several weeks.<br />
