A Milepost 97 fire is burning in steep terrain along Interstate 5 one mile south of Canyonville, Oregon (July 29) through the forest.<br /><br />On Saturday, more than 650 firefighters came to assist in fighting the flames with multiple helicopters and tankers. <br /><br />Smoke from the 8,878-acre Milepost is affecting the air quality in Southern Oregon and Northern California.<br /><br />As of the today (July 30) the fire has grown to an estimated 12,336 acres in an area where firefighters are dealing with falling trees, rolling rocks, and wind. It’s 15% contained.
