Clemson Tops Preseason <br />Coaches Poll for First Time <br />in School History The defending national champion will enter the season at No. 1. Clemson received 59 of 65 first-place votes <br />in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll. No. 2 Alabama received the other six first-place votes. Sophomore QB Trevor Lawrence returns to the Tigers, who defeated Alabama 44-16 in the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship. It is the first time since 2015 that the Crimson Tide <br />are not ranked No. 1 to start the season. Rounding out the top 5 are Georgia at No. 3, <br />followed by No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 5 Ohio State. It is the first time since 1992 that <br />the preseason top 5 consists of the <br />same schools in consecutive seasons.
