Lowe's to Layoff <br />Thousands of Employees According to the company, third-parties will begin taking jobs formerly in the maintenance and assembly sections. Lowe's, via statement The job losses come amidst <br />store closings by Lowe's over the <br />past year in order to shave off costs. But the retailer is still planning to bring in over <br />2,000 workers for a tech facility that it <br />plans to open in 2021 in North Carolina. The store shutdowns by Lowe's are <br />apart of an ongoing trend in the <br />struggling U.S. retail sector. In 2019, over 7,000 stores have <br />closed their doors for good. As of its last filing, Lowe's has <br />nearly 200,000 full-time workers. There are currently just over<br />1,700 locations in America.
