Ethiopia Breaks One-Day Record <br />for Number of Trees Planted.<br />According to the BBC, 350 million trees were planted in just 12 hours.<br />This easily tops the former <br />2017 record of 66 million <br />trees planted in India.<br />The event was held on July 29 and completed by volunteers across <br />the East African country.<br />It is apart of a campaign called <br />Green Legacy, which was started by <br />Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed.<br />By October this year, Ahmen's initiative is looking to plant four billion trees within Ethiopia's borders.<br />As of the 2000s, forests only cover around 4% of total land in Ethiopia.<br />A century beforehand, 35% of Ethiopia was populated by trees.
