S. Korea discusses whether to remove Japan from whitelist, results not released on Thursday

韓, 백색국가서 日배제 첫 논의…발표는 일단 연기<br /><br />South Korea's Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon convened a closed-door meeting on Thursday over Japan's latest export restrictions.<br />They discussed -- for the first time -- whether to take Japan off South Korea's so-called whitelist of preferential trading partners. <br />Detailed results, however, were not released.<br />Currently, Japan is benefiting from a simplified inspection process, but if the exclusion goes ahead, Japanese firms will have to go through stricter export regulations for strategic materials.<br />An official said relevant ministers will gather soon to fine-tune the details. <br />
