청해부대 강감찬함 오늘 아덴만으로…호르무즈 파견 가능성<br /><br />A destroyer from the South Korean Navy's Cheonghae Unit is bound for the Gulf of Aden for a six-month deployment to fight piracy.<br />The ROKS Kang Gam Chan will switch places with the ROKS Dae Jo Young to protect South Korean ships operating in those waters until the end of February 2020.<br />Since the Kang Gam Chan has reportedly undergone a weapons system upgrade,... there's speculation that it might join the U.S.-led coalition to secure shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz against Iran's aggressive actions against international oil tankers.<br />Just a few days ago Iran's foreign ministry said it hopes Seoul will not do that.<br />The U.S. has been pressing South Korea and Japan to join the mission,... but Seoul has yet to issue an official response.<br />
