One patrol officer has died and two others injured...after a shootout on a California Highway.<br />An officer made a traffic stop of a pick-up truck on Riverside Highway at around 5:37PM on Tuesday local time.<br />While waiting for a tow truck to arrive, the pick-up driver the suspect entered the vehicle and began firing a rifle at the officer.<br />The officer later died of his injuries.<br />The suspect also died during a resulting shooting spree with police.<br />His motive for shooting the officer is still unknown.<br />
