July Was Officially the <br />Hottest Month on Record The National Oceanic and <br />Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) <br />announced that global temperature <br />averaged 62.13º during the month. That temperature <br />is 1.71º higher than <br />the average of the <br />20th century. It was 415th consecutive <br />month in which global <br />temperatures were <br />above average. The areas with the most <br />unusually warm temperatures <br />included central Europe, parts <br />of Australia, Africa and Alaska. Antarctic and Arctic <br />sea ice are currently <br />at historic lows. Of the hottest ten <br />Julys on record, <br />nine have happened <br />since 2005. 2019 is tied with 2017 as the <br />second hottest year to date.
