The First Obama-Produced Film to Hit Netflix The Obamas are officially filmmakers. Their first production credit, ‘American Factory,’ <br />is set for release on Netflix this Wednesday. The documentary follows a closed General Motors Factory in Dayton, Ohio, and its transformation into the U.S. outlet for Fuyao, a Chinese glass company. The film is the first release by the Obamas’ production company, Higher Ground, which signed a deal with <br />Netflix to produce socially conscious content. Filmmakers Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar filmed <br />1,200 hours of footage and focused on themes of globalization and U.S.-China relations. Audiences can expect 6 more Obama-produced projects in the near future.
