AG Barr Removes <br />Acting US Prisons Director <br />After Epstein's Death.<br />Hugh Hurwitz had been acting <br />director of the Federal Bureau <br />of Prisons since May of 2018.<br />Under his watch, accused <br />sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was <br />found dead in his prison cell.<br />His death was ruled a suicide.<br />Two weeks earlier, Epstein <br />had been found unconscious <br />in his cell with marks on his <br />neck due to an attempted suicide.<br />Following the announcement <br />of Epstein's death, Attorney <br />General William Barr released a <br />statement saying he was "appalled" at the news.<br />Barr will name <br />Kathleen Hawk Sawyer <br />as the new director.<br />Hawk Sawyer previously <br />served as the director of <br />the Federal Bureau of Prisons.<br />Under Dr. Hawk Sawyer’s previous tenure at the Bureau, she led the agency with excellence, innovation, and efficiency, receiving numerous awards for her outstanding leadership, William Barr, U.S. Attorney General, via CNBC
