The birthplace of the United Democratic Front at the Rocklands Civic Centre in Mitchells Plain, South Africa was declared a heritage site, with speakers gathered to celebrate the occasion. <br /><br />Among the speakers that took to the stand on August 20 was Cameron Dugmore leader of the ANC in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.<br /><br />Joining him was Allan Boesak, one of the previous leaders of the Union Democratic Front, a broad coalition of unions, churches, civic organisations and unions who formed a wide opposition to the apartheid regime.
