Perak exco member Paul Yong has been charged at the Ipoh Session Criminal 1 Court with raping a domestic worker under his employment today.<br /><br />He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.<br /><br />"I understand (the charge) but I did not do it," Yong said after the charge was read to him.<br /><br />According to the charge sheet, Yong is accused of committing the crime at his home on Aug 7.<br /><br />The victim lodged a police report over the alleged rape the following day.<br /><br />The case was heard before sessions judge Norashima Khalid.<br /><br />Malim Nawar assemblyperson (DAP) Leong Cheok Keng represented Yong as his lawyer. Jelutong MP RSN Rayer and Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh was also part of the defence team.<br /><br />The judge granted Yong bail of RM15,000 with one surety, down from the RM20,000 and two sureties sought by deputy public prosecutor Azhar Mokhtar.<br /><br />Case management has been set for Sept 24.
