Tokyo's traditional Asakusa neighbourhood celebrated its 38th Samba Carnival with colourful costumes, music and dance.<br /><br />Every year, large crowds attend the Asakusa Samba Carnival, in which thousands of dancers and other performers compete in teams.<br /><br />The carnival reflects Japan’s links with Brazil, which hosts the world's largest Japanese diaspora population.<br /><br />The carnival took place on Saturday 31 August 2019.
