A grandfather has been hailed a hero for spending hours every day using a rowing boat to clean a polluted lake in Cambodia.<br /><br />The elderly man was captured pushing the boat to collect huge piles of trash clogging the Tonle Sap lake in Siem Reap province.<br /><br />Footage from Thursday (August 28) shows the man in his 60s scooping out garbage including plastic bags, bottles, cans, branches and even an old fan.<br /><br />He threw the waste onto the banks before putting them in garbage bags and dumping it in the bin.<br /><br />Residents of Kampong Phluk village said the old volunteer is always on his wooden boat collecting garbage every day as it became part of his daily routine.<br /><br />They don't know his name but he is believed to be in his 60s.<br /><br />Chea Lim said: ''This grandpa spent one or two hours in the lake picking up trash. Nobody knows when he started doing this but his actions are totally inspiring.<br /><br />''Kampong Phluk is a famous tourist destination in Siem Reap. What he does reminds us that we should keep our city and the environment clean and beautiful.''
