The U.S. has confirmed the end of peace negotiations with the Taliban... but will keep pressuring the Taliban for significant commitments.<br />U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made the announcement on CNN and Fox News on Sunday local time.<br />Earlier on Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump unexpectedly announced that he had cancelled peace talks with the Taliban's "major leaders."<br />The cancellation came after the Taliban took credit for an attack in Afghanistan that killed a dozen people, including an American soldier.<br />The Taliban, in response, said Trump's decision would lead to more fresh losses of American lives in Afghanistan.<br />
