IFRC allocates emergency fund to help N. Korea recover from typhoon

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies allocated 57-thousand U.S. dollars last Friday as emergency aid to help North Koreans affected by Typhoon Lingling.<br />According to Voice of America, the IFRC is using the fund to support 28-thousand people in Hwanghae-do, Pyongannam-do, and Hamkyong-do provinces, where the typhoon passed through over the weekend.<br />The money was used to alert people of the typhoon's path and possible damage... as well as conduct necessary on-ground surveys afterwards.<br />The Red Cross is distributing essential relief to the elderly, pregnant women and the disabled.<br />The international body says that the typhoon will affect the North's crop harvest in the fall.<br />
