YICHANG, CHINA — Does China have its very own homegrown Loch Ness Monster slithering up and down the banks of the Yangtze River? <br />Last week, China's intranet was abuzz after video of what appeared to be a massive serpent-like monster swimming in the doo doo colored water of the mighty Yangtze went viral. <br />According to CCTV, the river dragon was thought to be around 10 feet long and was spotted near the Three Gorges Dam Scenic Area in Yichang, Hebei province. <br />The footage shows the mysterious "monster" breaking through the water's surface during the middle of the day. <br />Netizens and supposed Chinese animal experts immediately starting shooting out possible explanations as to what the creature might be. <br />Turns out the story was nothing but pure garbage—LITERALLY. <br />According to CCTV News, the river monster was nothing more than a large black plastic mesh bag that had been dumped into the water as junk. <br />And there you have it folks, the perfect fairy tale ending. <br />Just remember next time you're in the beautiful waters of the Yangtze, keep your head on a swivel, lest you become lunch for the infamous river monster.
