Two South Korean corporate giants in the global TV business are duking it out to grab the biggest slice of the burgeoning 8K TV market. <br />Not shy about boasting of their own technological prowess,... they are even taking pot shots at what they say is the lackluster quality of their competitor's products. <br />Kim Hyo-sun reports. <br /> Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are not pulling any punches as they aim to win the title of manufacturing 8K TVs with the best image quality.<br />Both have been holding briefing sessions on their respective 8K technology,... considered the highest resolution available on the market right now. <br />LG Electronics was the first to take the gloves off,... attacking Samsung's 8K TV as (quote) "a sub-standard product."<br /><br />"I believe consumers should be given accurate information on quality."<br /><br />"It all comes down to consumer choice."<br /><br /> The most crucial difference is whether they are OLED or QLED TVs.<br />LG Electronics' OLED TV does not require a backlight panel,... enabling the TVs to be as thin as wall paper. <br />While such technology also enables rollable TVs,... they are more susceptible to image retention, known in the industry as "burn-in." <br /> Samsung's QLED TV is made using quantum dot technology to enhance performance in key picture quality areas. <br />While the technology enables better image quality,... it requires a backlight panel. <br /> Although pundits say LG Electronics is ahead in certain technological aspects,... sales figures show Samsung Electronics is taking an early lead. <br />Kim Hyo-sun, Arirang News. <br />
