CDC Says More People Will Die From Vaping So far, there have been
eight lung-related vaping
deaths across the U.S. In one case, a man in his 40s did not develop any health issues until he started vaping earlier in 2019. As of now, the CDC has recorded over
530 illnesses in nearly 40 U.S. states. But according to NBC News, health departments
are looking at over 700 possible cases. This is because the health agency is only counting cases with a confirmed or probable link to vaping. CDC Principal Deputy Director Anne Schuchat
says that the agency expects the
number of fatalities to go up. The institute adds that most of the people getting sick from vaping range from 18 to 34 years old. People under 25 account for half of the cases, and
16 percent of those affected are minors. In the past couple years, vaping use has doubled for those in middle school and high school. The rise in younger people getting sick has led to
New York and Michigan banning flavored e-cigarettes. The Trump administration is
also considering implementing a
nationwide ban on flavored e-cigarettes.
