Residents in Indonesia flock to doctors as respiratory diseases rise amid haze crisis

The ongoing haze crisis in Indonesia has seen an increase in the number of people visiting doctors in Padang with cases of respiratory diseases.<br /><br />Since September 1, there have been 65 cases of respiratory disorders handled by the doctors at Puskesmas Ulak Karang medical centre, the figure increased two-fold compared to before the haze crisis.<br /><br />Dr Celsi said: "Now there are about 65 cases of respiratory disorders for this month alone, we are at the end of the month of September. <br /><br />"For the severe, we put it on pneumonia, there is also pneumonia for children whose name is severe tightness pneumonia now there are three cases.<br /><br />"But for adults we put in an exacerbation of asthma, the term is because of the causes of the effects of smoke, there are about two cases."<br /><br />This footage was filmed on Monday (September 23).
