South Korean universities will soon be allowed to set up campuses abroad.<br />The education ministry said today it's going to pass a regulation as soon as next year allowing them to do that.<br />Campuses overseas will be able to open departments and enroll students in them whether or not they have corresponding departments in Korea.<br />Until now, universities could not go abroad because there was no legal mechanism under which they could do so.<br />The ministry expects this will enable South Korean universities to open up in Southeast Asia and boost their global competitiveness.<br />
