In the middle of a heavy drizzle there was an accident on Route 7 at the height of San Andres de Giles. The frontal crash occurred between a Fiat Siena car in which 5 people from General Villegas and a Ford van with 4 people domiciled in Mercedes were traveling. As a result of the impact, the 5 occupants of the Fiat, Antonio Farias, Alberto Rubio and the 3 daughters of the latter, aged 21, 19 and 15, died on the spot.
