South Korea and the U.S. start two days of bi-annual defense talks today on regional security and other pending alliance issues... including the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and the transfer of wartime operational control from Washington to Seoul.<br /> Seoul's defense ministry says the 16th Korea-U.S. Integrated Defense Dialogue, or K-I-D-D, is being headed by South Korea's Deputy Minister for National Defense Policy Chung Suk-hwan and and his American counterpart Heino Klinck.<br />During the previous round of talks in Washington in April... the two sides reaffirmed their alliance and said the inter-Korean Comprehensive Military Agreement signed last September contributed to alleviating tensions on the peninsula. <br />
