A Hong Kong vlogger has visited the local Disneyland, left largely devoid of tourists from mainland China following long-running pro-democracy protests.

In video filmed by a local resident Dr. Gavin Chiu Sin-hin on September 11, several tour buses can be seen parked outside the Disneyland resort but only a few dozen visitors are inside.

In the video, Chiu said: "I can see many southeastern Asian tourists. But comparing with before, mainland Chinese tourists have reduced dramatically."

"There are still many people outside the train station near Disneyland, but a large part of them are Disneyland staff as it is time to finish work."

But in another clip, filmed on September 15, the car park can be seen full of vehicles.

Chiu said: "Tourists from mainland China reduced 5.5 percent this year. However, tourists from other places increased, for example, tourists from Macau, Indonesia and Philippine rose 2.8%, 3.7% and 11.7 percent respectively. The number of tourists in total reduced by 4.6 percent."
