Federal Judge Halts Georgia's 'Heartbeat Bill'.<br />The controversial legislation <br />outlaws abortions when a woman <br />is around six weeks pregnant.<br />The bill was signed back in <br />May 2019 and then challenged <br />by Planned Parenthood <br />and the ACLU.<br />It would have then <br />become official on January 1.<br />In his ruling, Judge Steve C. Jones said <br />the bill breaches precedents from <br />two Supreme Court cases.<br />One of them is the landmark <br />Roe v. Wade decision from 1973.<br />This Court, as a district court, is bound by those decisions and, as stated above, is without discretion to overrule or otherwise change this abortion law precedent, Judge Steve C. Jones, via ruling.<br />A spokesperson for Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said they are analyzing the judge's ruling.<br />We are currently reviewing Judge Jones’ decision.
