The number of confirmed cases of African swine fever in South Korea has edged up to 13... following the confirmation of a new case at a pig farm in Gimpo, west of Seoul.<br />Since the first case was confirmed less than three weeks ago, the authorities are trying to stop the animal disease spreading.<br />The agriculture ministry says all pigs within a 3-kilometer radius of the infected farms in Gimpo and Paju will be culled.<br />For pigs outside that radius,… the government will buy them off the farmers.<br />The pigs will then send them to slaughterhouses where they will be tested before the meat is sold to the market.<br />In addition, the government says it has found traces of the African swine fever in a dead wild boar found in the DMZ near Yeoncheon.<br />It marks the first time the virus has been discovered in a wild boar, but officials say it's unlikely the boar came from north of the border.<br />
