<br />Amid rising concerns that Hong Kong's government may expand its use of colonial-era powers, Hong Kong's leader said her administration has no such plans.<br />Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam said there will be NO use of emergency powers for the introduction of other laws.<br />She added that the city was equipped to handle the current crisis on its own... as the territory has braved through the 4 months of demonstrations.<br />Last Friday, for the first time in more than 50 years, the Hong Kong leader activated emergency powers to ban the use of masks at city protests.<br />
