Taoist devotees pierced their faces and other places on their bodies before parading through the streets of Phuket, Thailand during a vegetarian festival. Many of the faithful avoid meat, alcohol and sex to cleanse themselves during the annual festival, which lasted for nine days ending October 7, 2019.
