Japan will tap Koji Tomita as its new ambassador to South Korea.<br />According to local media reports on Wednesday, the Japanese cabinet will appoint Tomita as its top envoy in Seoul on October 22nd.<br />Tomita is known to have a deep understanding of Korea as he has several years of diplomatic experience working at the Japanese Embassy in Seoul.<br />He has also served as the head of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's North American Affairs Bureau.<br />NHK says the decision could be seen as part of Japan's efforts to find ways to mend the strained Seoul-Tokyo relations.<br />
