Vietnam yanks 'Abominable' over South China Sea map

VIETNAM — Vietnam has made a bold move by yanking DreamWorks film Abominable from movie theaters because of a scene that includes China's ridiculous South China Sea map.
According to BBC, Abominable is about a Chinese girl who discovers a yeti on her roof and is a joint China-DreamWorks production.
Well here's the first problem. A Chinese girl wouldn't find a yeti on her roof because yetis are from Tibet. Just saying.
BBC reports that one scene in the movie shows China's unilaterally declared "nine-dash line' map, which carves out an enormous area in the sea that is nowhere even close to China.
The thing is, Vietnam, as well as Taiwan, the Philippines, Brunei, and Malaysia all make claims to parts of the sea.
According to BBC, the movie was jointly produced by Shanghai-based Pearl Studio and DreamWorks and was first shown in Vietnam on October 4.
Vietnamese moviegoers quickly spotted China's fake map and began sharing screenshot over social media.
The government then did the right thing and quickly announced the film was getting yanked from theaters.
The move comes at a time of heightened tensions between Vietnam and China.
Well apparently that's what you get when filming a make-believe movie—make-believe maps.
