Our top story this morning...<br />Turkey has agreed to a ceasefire in Syria - and military action will stop entirely once Kurdish forces leave part of northern Syria.<br />U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Turkish President Recip Tayyip Erodgan in Ankara on Thursday,... after which Pence said there will be a pause in military operations for five days.<br />The United States say the ceasefire is required before they can start rectifying the situation.<br />For more on this, let's turn to our Kim Da-mi.<br />Da-mi, just walk us through the details of this ceasefire.<br />Connyoung, the U.S. and Turkey have agreed to a ceasefire in northeast Syria to allow for the withdrawal of Kurdish forces.<br />U.S. Vice President Mike Pence revealed the news after more than 4 hours of talks at the Turkish presidential palace in Ankara.<br />"It will be a pause in military operations for 120 hours while the United States facilitates the withdrawal of YPG from the affected areas in the safe zone."<br />He further noted that Turkey's Operation Peace Spring will be halted entirely on the completion of the withdrawal and that Washington and Ankara have "mutually committed to a peaceful resolution and future for the safe zone."<br />Pence and Pompeo flew to Turkey on Wednesday local time to call for a halt to Turkey's corss-border military operation.<br />On October 9th, Turkish troops entered the area "east of the Euphrates," targeting a Kurdish-led military alliance.<br />Back to you, Connyoung.<br />
